President Trump decided to wake up and lob childish insults at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today, demonstrating all the sophistication of an illiterate schoolyard bully.
Trump referred to the veteran Democrat as “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer” and pointed out that Schumer himself originally opposed the Iran deal during the Obama years which, while true, is completely irrelevant. Schumer voiced concerns about the deal to be sure, but once it was put in place he correctly recognized that the United States had to honor it or risk destroying its credibility around the world. The deal has also proven to be more effective than some expected.
Now that Trump has violated the deal and withdrawn from it, other countries have no reason to believe anything we say or expect us to honor any kind of negotiations or deals we sign with them. Trump has drastically reduced America’s ability to forge meaningful diplomatic compromises because he was so eager to erase President Obama’s legacy. Leaving the Iran deal was one of Trump’s absolute worst decisions to date, and smarter, better-intentioned men and women will be forced to clean up the mess after he moves on.
Senator Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fought hard against the Bad Iran Deal, even going at it with President Obama, & then Voted AGAINST it! Now he says I should not have terminated the deal – but he doesn’t really believe that! Same with Comey. Thought he was terrible until I fired him!

Schumer, not one to be impressed by Trump’s petty insults, shot back with the perfect response. He simply tweeted #BeBest, a reference to First Lady Melania Trump’s oddly named campaign to end cyberbullying.
The message is clear: Trump is undermining his wife’s signature initiative by engaging in outright cyberbullying himself. This is not how an adult is supposed to conduct himself, let alone a president.

When Melania announced her “Be Best” campaign, many responded with mockery and incredulity. Was the wife of the world’s most famous bully really going to pretend she was an advocate for the victims of bullies? We now have our answer, and it’s a resounding “no.” Her video about the initiative plays like a bad joke after today’s spat.
